Getting Started
The basics for using Localy as a neighbor or local business owner.
What is Localy?
Localy helps signed-in customers discover timely offers from nearby businesses. Businesses use Localy to create controlled offers around slow hours, limited inventory, featured items, first Localy interactions, and reasons to return.
Do I need an account to browse offers?
Yes. Discover, full offer details, Local Spots, and business profiles are available to signed-in customers. Public pages such as About, How It Works, Pricing, FAQ, and Contact remain available without an account.
Does Localy cost anything for customers?
No. Customers use Localy for free. Localy Free, Localy Starter, and Founding Business Access are business plans.
Can I add Localy to my phone home screen?
Yes. Localy is a website that can be installed from supported browsers. Eligible signed-in users may see an install prompt on Home after using Localy, and iPhone users can use Share, then Add to Home Screen. Localy is not a downloadable native app.
How old do I need to be to use Localy?
Customer account holders must be at least 13 years old. Business owners creating or managing a business account must be at least 18 and able to enter agreements for the business.
Finding and Using Offers
How discovery, location, saves, activations, and offer eligibility work.
Where can I find offers?
Home highlights timely, curated offers. Discover lets you browse and filter current offers, while saved offers and favorite businesses help you return to places and offers that interested you.
Does Localy require my location?
No. Browser location is optional. If you allow it, Localy can estimate distances and improve nearby sorting when business coordinates are available. Without it, offers remain available using Nearby labels and general sorting.
What happens when I save an offer?
Saving bookmarks the offer for later. It does not reserve inventory, guarantee availability, or tell the business that the offer was used.
What happens when I favorite a business?
Favoriting a business adds it to Your Favorites in Local Spots and helps you return to it. Favorites may also help Localy determine relevant customer communications, subject to your preferences.
What does activating an offer mean?
Activation records that you intend to use an eligible offer and provides an active offer screen to show when ordering or checking out. The screen shows exactly when the activation expires. Activation is not proof of a visit, completed sale, or redemption.
When should I activate an offer?
Activate shortly before ordering or checking out. A timed activation lasts until the end of its current offer window, and an all-day activation lasts until the end of the local day unless the offer ends earlier.
What does “Save Offer for Later” do?
For a once-per-customer offer, saving closes the activation confirmation without using your one claim. The offer remains saved and eligible until you activate it or it otherwise ends.
Where can I find an offer code?
When a business provides a code, the offer details tell you to activate to unlock it. The code appears only on a valid activation screen and is hidden from offer cards and the standard details page.
Why did an offer disappear?
A once-per-customer offer permanently leaves your available and saved offer lists after your activation expires. Other offers can disappear when a business pauses or ends them, their schedule ends, or you are no longer eligible.
Does Localy confirm that an offer was used?
No. Localy currently records views, saves, and activations. A business that wants to confirm completed use must do so through its own staff process or point-of-sale system.
What do the offer audience labels mean?
All Localy customers means prior Localy activity at the business does not matter. First-time Localy customers means no prior Localy offer activation at that business. Returning Localy customers means at least one prior Localy offer activation there. These labels do not describe a customer's complete offline visit history.
Does saving or activating guarantee an offer?
No. It does not guarantee inventory, seating, appointments, or lawful service. Businesses are responsible for accurate terms and should promptly pause or update an offer when circumstances change.
Do Localy offers work on third-party delivery apps?
Only when the business terms explicitly say so. Localy offers normally apply to the service options listed by the business, such as in-store, dine-in, or pickup.
Business Profiles and Offers
Business onboarding, review, publishing, and performance basics.
How does a business join Localy?
Create a business-owner account, complete the business profile, and submit it for review. Localy reviews the business before its profile and offers become customer-facing.
Does Localy take a commission on business sales?
No. Localy does not take a percentage of a business sale. Business plan costs cover access to Localy features, while the merchant continues to process customer purchases through its own point-of-sale or checkout system. Third-party marketplace rates and terms vary by provider and market.
Do I need business photos before I can finish setup?
No. Localy supplies category-based starter profile and cover images to simplify setup. You can replace either image with your own photo at any time.
What happens when I edit an approved business profile?
Changes that require review are submitted to Localy while the current approved profile stays available to customers. Approved changes replace the current profile; rejected changes leave it unchanged.
Can I create offers before my business is approved?
You can prepare and save drafts. Publishing requires an approved, active business and compliance with the applicable offer, plan, and visibility rules.
When can customers see an offer?
The business must be approved and active, and the offer must be published, eligible for the customer, and within its valid schedule. Visibility and placement are not guaranteed.
What if inventory runs out or my plans change?
Use the current offer controls to pause, update, or end the offer promptly. Paused and expired offers stop appearing as currently available to customers.
Can I use my own point-of-sale offer code?
Yes. Add a code in the offer terms when creating or editing an offer. Localy reveals the case-preserving code only on a customer’s valid activation screen, so staff can enter it in your existing point-of-sale system. Code changes apply only to future activations.
Do I need to replace my current business systems?
No. Localy works alongside your current point-of-sale and operating systems. Localy activity is not a substitute for your own transaction, inventory, scheduling, or accounting records.
What performance information does Localy provide?
Available business analytics can include profile views, offer views, saves, activations, weekday activity, and new or returning Localy activity. These signals help compare response, but no individual metric proves a visit or sale.
Localy Business Plans
How Founding Business Access, Localy Starter, and Localy Free fit together.
What is Founding Business Access?
Founding Business Access gives approved founding businesses 90 days to test Localy with real offers at no charge. No card is required, and approval is required before the access period begins.
What happens when my 90 days of Founding Business Access end?
Localy does not start a paid subscription automatically. While follow-on plans are coming soon, completed founding businesses move to Localy Free limits and keep permanent eligibility for the $35/month founding-member Starter rate.
How do published and monthly offer limits work?
A published offer is any active, non-ended offer, whether it is live now or scheduled for later. Every newly created offer—including drafts and recurring offers—uses one monthly allowance. Editing does not use another allowance, and deleting an offer does not restore it.
When do monthly offer allowances reset?
New-offer allowances reset at local midnight on the first day of each calendar month using America/New_York time.
What does Limited Offer Customization mean on Localy Free?
Free supports Localy offer templates, one-time future scheduling, images, offer codes, claim limits, service modes, combinability, and necessary terms. Custom offer wording, recurring schedules, and first-time or returning-customer targeting require Founding Business Access or Starter.
Who receives the $35/month founding-member Starter price?
A business that has used Founding Business Access keeps permanent eligibility for the $35/month Starter rate, even if it later uses Free, cancels, or returns to Localy.
Can I select Starter or Free today?
Starter and explicit Free selection are currently Coming Soon. New approved businesses can begin with 90 days of free Founding Business Access. Existing Starter businesses keep their current plan, and completed founders automatically receive Free limits.
Is the 14-day Starter trial separate from Founding Business Access?
Yes. When Starter launches, its Checkout flow will include a separate 14-day trial. It will begin only after a business explicitly chooses Starter and completes Checkout.
Does Founding Business Access start automatic billing?
No. Founding Business Access does not require a card and never starts a paid plan automatically. A paid subscription can begin only after Starter launches and a business explicitly completes Stripe Checkout.
What does email marketing on eligible Starter offers mean?
Email marketing is a future Starter feature and is not active today. Eligibility and placement will depend on offer rules, customer preferences, and Localy visibility standards.
Does Localy store my card information?
Localy does not store full card numbers. Stripe handles paid subscription checkout, payment methods, invoices, and billing portal actions.
Alcohol Offers
The additional rules for offers that include alcoholic items.
Which businesses can publish alcohol offers?
Alcohol offers are currently limited to eligible New York businesses. The merchant must be properly licensed for the premises and responsible for complying with federal, state, local, license, and community-board requirements.
Who is responsible for the alcohol sale and checking identification?
The merchant is the sole seller. It sets and honors pricing, receives payment, checks government-issued identification, assesses intoxication, and decides whether service is lawful. Localy does not sell alcohol or make those decisions.
Why does Localy ask me to confirm that I am 21 or older?
Before a new save or activation for an alcohol offer, the customer must self-attest that they are at least 21 and agree to the applicable Localy terms. The confirmation applies to that specific offer and does not replace the merchant's identification check.
Can offers that include alcohol appear in Localy promotional emails?
No. Offers containing alcohol are excluded from Localy promotional emails and other automated offer-marketing communications.
Does Localy collect my birth date or identification?
No. Localy records the required age self-attestation and related compliance details, but does not collect a birth date, identification image, or identification number for this process.
Privacy, Accounts, and Support
Account controls, privacy information, and ways to get help.
What information does Localy collect?
Localy collects information needed to operate accounts, business profiles, offers, customer actions, optional location features, communications, billing, moderation, compliance, support, and security. The Privacy Policy explains the categories and uses in detail.
Does Localy sell personal information?
No. Localy does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How do I delete my account?
Signed-in users can request account deletion from Account settings. Deleted account content is not restored if you sign up again. Localy retains pseudonymous eligibility markers so deleting and recreating an account does not reset once-per-customer, same-day, or first-time-at-a-business offer rules. Deletion may also be limited where Localy must retain records for billing, security, moderation, legal, or compliance purposes.
Why does the Contact form use CAPTCHA?
CAPTCHA helps protect Localy and its support channels from automated spam and abusive submissions.
How do I contact Localy support?
Use the Contact page or email support@localyapp.io. For an offer or business issue, include the business name, offer name, what happened, and screenshots when helpful.
